Finished Product

when designing a project or line, we have to be well aware of who the customers are for the potatoes, onions, carrots and other products. In principle, we distinguish three categories: retail/ etail, wholesale and industry. Each of these categories has its own specific characteristics of packaging and shipping. We as Partnership of Companies work all over the world. Therefore we collect ideas and ways of packaging from all over the world. We can distinguish trends in different countries and even continents. We can compare the way of working of, for example, the industry very well between the different countries. What requirements are there in the different countries for the; suppliers. What can you expect as a supplier? For the chips industry, for example, we have supplied various mobile washers. We store as many of the different ways of delivering finished products as possible in our central database AIMS. Together with you, we can evaluate and interpret these. What can the developments and laws and regulations regarding used packaging in other countries / continents mean for you in the near future?

Full Truck

A lot of product such as onion and potatoes are delivered by full truck. The most used truck in the world is the so-called underloader. In Europe you can weigh 27 tons in total. It is therefore important that the truck itself is as light as possible. This way of delivery takes place both at the industrial processors and at large packaging companies. If you properly analyze the reception and handling per truck, you can often achieve surprising savings there. The reasons for the receiving companies to order the goods per tuck are different. In any case, it is a very efficient way for both the supplying and receiving party. There are companies that immediately unload the trucks in storage hoppers. For example, you can keep stock for three full production days. Another possibility is that the trucks are transferred into boxes. Both cases, the logistics can be perfectly organized. No one ever has to wait. Large industrial processors of mainly potatoes want to have their potatoes washed and delivered in a truck. If the investment for a washing installation per individual producer / grower is not justified, we have a fully mobile washing installation. The machine equipped with an auger is plug and play. The water is recirculated as much as possible. Depending on the contamination of the potatoes, we arrive at a capacity of seventy tons per hour.

Large Packing on Pallets

For the wholesale trade, a lot is delivered in 25 kg to 50kg rachel bags. Rachel bags are on the roll. To pack bags on the roll is easier than single bags. You have a lot of quality differences in rachel bags. When you have a poor quality, the packaging machine will have more malfunctions. Rachel is widely used in onions, potatoes and carrots. For the different products, recognizable colors are usually used. You also have PP bags. These are single plastic bags. Usually cheaper than rachel bags. Material is often hard to the touch. By having a band made on it, you can introduce your own brand for PP as well as for rachel. For the seed potatoes, most of it is used in 25 kg of jute bags. In many countries you also have jute bags of 50 kg. In the EU and North America, 25 kg is legally the maximum. Jute bags are always single bags. With a large weighing and packaging installation (we offer a weigher with a capacity of 37,000 kg per hour), the bags can be supplied automatically. With simpler packaging lines, they are usually held by hand at the bagger. A thorough cost benefit analysis must be made to determine how packing and palletizing and wrapping should be shaped. How many bags must be palletized at which sorting. The total output of the line doesn’t really say much. Often several smaller palletizers are much cheaper and more efficient than a large installation. You simply have to palletize per sorting. We make this analysis together with you.

Boxes or Macro bins and Big bags

For transport over long distances where it becomes very expensive to return the box empty, the big bag is the perfect packaging medium. They are not handy bags but relatively cheap. To keep the big bag as manageable as possible, it is best to put it on a pallet. In other words, many big bags are delivered without pallets. Loading and unloading and moving must then be done through the loops. You need extra manpower for this. You can easily apply track and trace to big bags. At many packaging companies and industrial processors, the products are delivered by macro bins or wooden cubic box. For both filling and emptying, we offer you automated systems. Looking critically at the forklift movements with regard to the input into the line, filling after the sorting machine and collecting per size can come to amazing insights. Usually when we have made the calculation where you can fill in the variables yourself, the payback period of an investment in automation is shorter than you would ever think. The macro bin is a relatively small cubic box. That is why automation is even more important for this box. Measuring these systems makes the routing more logical and the footprint of the entire process smaller.

Retail Packing

The most eye-catching and most challenging form of packaging is retail packaging. The market is constantly subject to new trends. Laws and regulations changed due to stricter environmental requirements. What packaging requirements are being set by the EU? Which EU countries will, if possible, go even further in tightening the legislation. In any case your packaging must continue to meet the changing perception of the end user. We do not sell packaging material. However, from our network from all over the world, we have a good idea of what is going on. What are the latest trends Retail packers often buy their products from producer / farmers. One can then of course buy an unsorted/graded batch or a sorted/ graded one. During our many conversations and visits to Retail packaging companies, we often come across very inefficient setups. A retail packaging company is a distribution center. The efficiency of your operation determines whether you have long-term survival chances as a company. On the section of projects on this site you can see different setups that might lead you to ideas. We are happy to make a quick scan of your line in a video conference.
